Artist Statement:
Though I worked exclusively in oil for 25 years, my works now include watercolor, acrylic and mixed media collage. Switching from media to media freshens my perception and defines the finish of each work. I attended Otis Parsons Art Institute, and have studied with well known artists in all media. Although I learned the basics of drawing, perspective, color, etc., I always have been an impressionist and experimenter. I paint a gamut of subjects in realistic, impressionistic and abstract styles. I paint from the heart as well as the head, and perceive the physical and mental effort as a labor of love. I enjoy the grace of animal as well as human form, and have a particular affinity for horses and cats and the fluidity of their movement. In abstracts and impressions, I like the option the viewer has of making their own interpretation. ...
