Artist Statement:
I enjoy the freedom of being able to express myself in different ways through my paintings, and I love exploring and experimenting; so my artwork adopts different styles through the use of oil and acrylic. I find most of my inspiration in the mysteries of the subconscious, socio-cultural issues, the spiritual and in nature. My rich Hispanic heritage and my fascination for opposites, cultural identity, and optical illusions, as well as the mysterious and versatile nature of the feminine influence my work.
I find painting to be a very passionate experience, and I use diverse genre of music as a tool for the creation of my paintings. When I look at a blank canvas, I don't see a blank canvas, but the details of my next paintings. It’s like literally hearing the musical arrangement, a musical piece that has not yet been played. Each color, each brush stroke, has its own sound, flavor, and emotion.

In 2004, I had a dream, which ignited my passion and first experience with painting. In my dream I was called to paint and make a difference through my paintings. So, without any previous experience or instruction in formal drawing or painting, I took my first leap of faith in the art-world and painted my first art piece, titled; "A Spanish Song" (2004) |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
Born in Puerto Rico, I later traveled to different countries in Europe and Central America. In 1983, I relocated to the United States, and have been living in the state of Colorado since 1993.
I studied at the University of Puerto Rico, Florida State University (Panama), and graduated with a BA from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. I love to teach others to paint, so I provide workshops and private painting lessons.
Some of my artwork have been exhibited at various galleries in Colorado, and at the Gallery of Contemporary Art, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and in 2006 my first painting was published on The American Artist Magazine, October's edition.
******
For me... a masterpiece is a painting that stimulates our senses, talks to our subconscious, allows us to hear without a sound, feel, taste, smell, touch… All, through the eyes which are the window to our soul... It stirs up our emotions, provokes our thoughts,.. with an image that captures our heart and seizes our soul.
I was call to paint, create a masterpiece, and make a difference through my artwork. Each painting I paint is a stepping-stone toward the fulfillment of that call. |
