| Your Personal Biography |
Beth Parin deconstructs the tenants of photography to an astonishing end. Time, space, and narrative do not follow the sometimes-predictable continuum found in traditional photography. Instead, Parin creates her own time, narratives, and spaces that are as much a product of Parin’s intellect as any mechanical reproduction. Parin speaks the language of black and white traditional photography with a subtle nod towards photo-collage. Her works are steeped in fine gradations, artful cropping, and natural beauty – all representative of tradition. But Parin’s unique bent on this age-old genre finds the imposition of meaning through a flawless superimposition of new subject matter. Parin depicts people coming to terms with different versions of the sublime. Whether it is an open modernist architectural space or that of nature’s radiating light, Parin makes a powerful statement regarding a singular human relationship with visually grand phenomena. Parin holds an MFA in studio photography from the prestigious Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Other accolades include a BFA in photography from the University of Notre Dame, exhibitions throughout the USA, and much published work. |
