“Painting is my real essence. It’s my great love. It’s the way I see reality. It’s time, need and hunger at the same time. It’s the inner truth of myself. It’s something I long to be, absence, colours, déjà vu, existence, the questions ...

| Your Personal Biography |
Brikena Berdo is a female artist from Albania. Born in Tirana, Albania in 1977, she graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana in 1999, where she specialized in oils, graphics and illustrations. Formerly a teacher at the Tirana High School of Arts “Jordan Misja” (2000-2002), she is currently working as a graphic designer for the Central Bank of Albania (since 2002).
Her work covers a broad range of techniques, varying from landscape oil paintings to comic book illustrations for children. The world to her is very interesting, something where one can find everything from the wonderful nuances of childish naivety to social conflicts. Her paintings express a fragment of life, where time has stopped, where the temporary and the eternal are equal, where the distinction between reality and trans reality is difficult to make. The memories are crucial, thus her art is compelling, it may become either personal, loving, strong or sometimes humorous or perhaps a combination. One may say, a déjà vu. |
