Artist Statement:
I believe that art can heal.
I believe that, even if all is connected, our bodies remain our first homes, shells, vehicles, and our senses are our first contact with the ”outside world” and with other beings. One of the recurring themes in my work is the one of a circle (or square), cocoon, transformation, from fetal position to extreme stretching, pointing towards erotica.
I believe that too often, in our megalopolis, the bodies are suppressed. Through our addictions to stress, our busy minds absorb all the available life force and govern our decisions.
I believe that my paintings are charged with nurturing love. I am always amazed to see how visitors react, during my exhibitions, and become totally inspired and talkative.
I paint to symbolically represent the “invisible”, feelings and thoughts, to show, share, and inspire. The images come from within, and allow a heart to heart communication. Through my work, I want to invite the viewers to open themselves up to dream, trust, feel and play. I want to inspire those who are willing to explore their own creative journeys.
Last December I invented and organized a workshop in NYC, “My Art Attack”, with the promise to the ...

| Your Personal Biography |
Caroline Bergonzi thinks in terms of archetypes. Her daily inspiration comes from myths, movies, books, dreams and the empiric experience of kung fu, tango, swimming and flying. To her, life is all about rhythm, flux, energies. Actions and reactions. Fusion and transformation. The yin & yang harmony of the contrasts. The too often forgotten cycle of life, rebirth, destruction & creation.
Painting (and drawing) remains her favorite medium of expression, and this for two main reasons. One is the full freedom & responsibility the artist has, at any time, in each square eighth of an inch. Then, because of the concentrated impact within a frame. Circle shapes, cocoons in squares, squares in circles. The full intensity of an instant.
Originating from the Principality of Monaco, on the French & Italian Riviera, the land chosen by Matisse and Picasso, Caroline Bergonzi started drawing very early and never stopped. At 17, she moved to Paris for 7 years, between Haute Couture studios and underground video game design, with a focus on clothes/costumes. In parallel, she graduated from a business school, and post graduated from the Institut Francais de la Mode. After freelancing in France, China and Italy, she moved to New York, to pursue her passion for creativity. There, she started painting, on large canvas, exhibited in several underground events.
To her, an artist is a person whose perception is either sharper, twisted or both, a person who sees “things” from a different angle, and has the capacity to translate that vision and share it with others. This expression can be multiform. From sketch to paint, shape in clay to body jewelry, logo to mural, website to music CD. Her work, whatever style or medium, comes from within. She processes what she absorbs, perceptions, dreams and ideas. Her images are both comforting and disrupting enough for the viewer. She wants to offer these milestones of her exploration to whoever looks and vibrates to the same sensibility.
Artist / freelancer / entrepreneur, she consults as fashion consultant, graphic designer or illustrator. She became one of the few upscale photo stylist, composes images for international photographers and fashion magazines. This experience with images in the media certainly explains the vivid glamour, the purity of her colors and the elegance of her style.
