Christophe Bourély was born in 1962 in Paris, France.
In 1979, Bourély moved to California. There, he first earned a B.A. in Economics at UCLA and an M.B.A in Marketing at San Francisco State University.
In 1990, Bourély decided to abruptly end his business career and start anew as a painter. Bourély went back to college and earned both an MFA in pictorial arts and an MA in art history from San José State University.
Upon graduating, Bourély started teaching at San José State University, the College of San Mateo, Santa Barbara City College and California State University Channel Islands.
Bourély resides now in Santa Barbara where he continues to work on his engaging social-commentary paintings.
