Artist Statement:
“We think of our figures as individuals with their own tastes and dispositions which can be a battle at times because the character we have in mind may not necessarily be the one that emerges. Sometimes you just have to let things happen.”
-- Chris Chomick & Peter Meder
The husband and wife team of Peter Meder and Chris Chomick have been working together for over twenty years. They met in 1978, while working as clerks in an art supply store in the Chicago loop and immediately began working together on various projects, one of the first being an animated puppet for Dutch Boy Paints, which began a career creating special effects for national television commercials. On a visit to a local newsstand, they found a magazine featuring figurative art and discovered a whole new world. They combined the knowledge and strengths of their different art backgrounds to create their own unique form of figurative art.
Drawn to the 'strange and odd', they are always on the lookout for new and stimulating images to try out on their latest creation....
