Artist Statement:
The first brush stroke starts
a mapping process of constant
motion and discovery. Through
the act of pushing, scraping,
dripping, and throwing the
paint, I create a visual
history of my own response to
these complex, chaotic
elements. The journey I take
mirrors my own personal
philosophy. In my
experience—no matter how much
planning takes place—the
future remains unknowable, but
by being fully aware and
integrated in the present
moment I can be more conscious
of the decisions that help to
shape my future.

Nowhere is this more apparent
to me than in the process of
creation where my art becomes
a personal meditation. By
using many colors and textures
freely, my paintings are born
out of energetic pandemonium.
This process continues as I
search to bring balance and
harmony to the chaos by
synchronizing multiple diverse
elements in one final
composition.

If you’ve ever been to an art
gallery (assuming you’re not a
snooty art critic, or a
professor of aesthetics),
you’ve probably come across a
revered canvas covered in what

Your Personal Biography “I believe most of us start out as artists—crayons on paper, scribbling on the walls, doodling in school. That kind of creativity and experimentation never stopped for me. Sometimes it’s a complete joy, sometimes it’s an utter struggle…but either way, it’s an adventure!”

Growing up in Bend, OR, Courtney spent most of her time doodling cartoons of her compliant friends and family. After high school, she continued her education at Rollins College in Florida as an English Major (and Art Minor). Upon graduating, Courtney came the realization that she really did love drawing and painting (and was done with analyzing obscure English novels) and decided that pursuing a career in Art was serious business that needed to be tended to. In 2008, Courtney graduated from the Academy of Art University with an MFA in Fine Art: Painting.

Courtney has shown her work in several locations, including the Cornell Fine Arts Museum in Winter Park, FL; 79 New Montgomery Gallery in San Francisco, CA; Artspace! Gallery in Livermore, CA; and Poetry on Canvas Gallery in Pleasanton, CA. Her works have been purchased by many independent collectors, and she has been published in both “The Source”, and “Discover Livermore.” She has won several awards, including 3rd place Abstract for the 2008 Academy of Art Spring Show.

Courtney currently lives in Pleasanton, CA. She is happily married, and she loves to laugh, listen to music, sing, and dance around the apartment like a goon with her cat. Courtney also teaches piano lessons.
