Artist Statement:
I strive with my art to record the contemporary American Cowboy, Cowgirl, their horses and way of life in detail and authenticity. My favorite subject is the hard working, versatile ranch horse
(typically the American Quarter Horse). My favorite medium is colored pencil which lends itself perfectly to my detailed and realistic style. I live the life I portray with my husband, raising cattle and horses on a South Dakota ranch where I find a wealth of subject matter and new ideas....

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
Any creative person must let the artist in him/her self out. I had no choice to do what I loved most. |

| Your Personal Biography |
I was raised on a South Dakota wheat farm in a family of eight (the second of 6 children). I've drawn since I could hold a pencil. I've tried oils, acrylics, pen and ink, graphite and watercolor but my favorite medium is colored pencil. I studied commercial art for a short time but moved on to fine art and consider myself self taught. I married a cowboy, had two wonderful daughters, now grown. I live on a cattle ranch and have lots of horses, cattle, dogs, cats and wildlife to keep my photography interests as well as artistic yearnings satisfied.
I have 27 open and limited edition prints on the market. I designed and maintain my own website (www.bbruckner.com) and own an art gallery and framing shop with my youngest dauthter, where I teach a colored pencil techniques class. |
