Artist Statement:
"Carla's contemporary work and new media art is a fusion of mystic realism, old school painting philosophies and digital pop art. It has reoccurring themes and settings to communicate a search for understanding through visual interpretations of the world around and within us. "
Some of the traditional works in this gallery are inspired by dreams others by digital mixed media work .

| Your Personal Biography |
born in neu ulm, germany, highlights of carla's travels include hightailing with a circus for 6 months, living in south africa, attending gradeschool in Florence, Italy, painting henna art on literally, all parts of the human body and officially owning 4 (almost 5) different last names.
carla attended the university of maryland, european division and in 1988 she graduated summa cum laude from wright state university with a major in painting and a minor in philosophy and biology. carla parenthetically claimed her "trick" to graduating with honors was "taking only classes i like!"
after graduating, carla was prepared to move to new york to attend new york city university's master of fine arts program, but she joined a punk rock band instead. in 1989, she moved to seattle, wa with thirtysome musicians and co-founded a collective record label called "rathouse records." she became lead singer for "dc beggars" and co-founded the "rathouse" a large house in the central district in seattle, wa where she witnessed beer dripping off her ceiling and wouldn't use her home phone for fear of phone tapping as a result of an anarchist convention in the "rathouse" living room. the rathouse was home to "7 year bitch," "the gits," "alcohol funny car," and of course, "dc beggars." three years of touring across the states, canada and europe with the band, it dissolved tragically in 1993.
from 1993 until 2003, carla returned to painting, exhibiting and selling works. her daughter was born in 2003 and her artistic outlet evolved into visual new media art along with her new duties as a mother. her son was born in 2007. carla currently focuses on family and presents her visual new media art locally in seattle, wa and online.
