Artist Statement:
I am inspired by Nature.
The beauty, color and texture
of natural elements found in
places such as wooded
landscapes, lush gardens,
languid oceans, and golden
fields saturate my senses and
find their way into my
artwork.
Working with a variety of
mediums such as acrylic,
watercolor, charcoal, rice
paper, and pastels I begin
painting shapes. As the
composition evolves, I add
vibrant color and discover the
energy between the shapes I
have created. I regularly use
techniques to roughen up the
images because I prefer the
viewer to see the essence of
my art rather than an exacting
look. Sometimes I use fine,
sparkle dust to add interest
and a sense of magic. My color
palette is an intense
reflection of the natural
world we live in - from the
sky to the ocean and
everything in between.
I believe my past experiences
merge with current events and
feelings to develop into
meaningful pieces of art.
Color, texture and layering
reinforce the show of beauty
as well as the reality of
distress and imperfection … so
apparent in all natural living
things.

Welcome to Cynthia Macgregor's Portfolio.
I am inspired by Nature.
