Artist Statement:
I have been driven to create, I have gone through devastating dry spells that made me want to die to frenetic over production that also can made me crazy. The challenge has been in the balance, finding flow that does not dump you in a still backwash or throw you down rapids, off the falls. Flow is the feeling when all the expression comes with grace and energy and power, like the river with wide flows and rapids and riffles. I am driven by the flow to reflect the expression of universal archetypical imagery with a twist and the once in a while colour grabs me and flings me about. So this is me, my work, my passion.
The mixed media paintings and masks pieces are a series of reflections of common human expressions, experiences and emotions. We need to feel, laugh and contemplate our humanness more often! We all have those inner voices, the committee we like to ignore. I find sharing them to be the best way to interact with the world on a level that has humor and honesty.

Life: This is an adventure inside the wholeness of life, and the richness of color that transports our soul beyond the ordinary, into light and grace, joy and serenity. Each piece invites introspection and sometimes wonder, inviting contemplation of the colors and flow. Color is the power that drives me in creating all my 2 dimensional art work.
There is a magic in the flow of a brush across the canvas, the sweep of supple pastel across the luscious paper, leaving trails of color where imagery explodes and the soul breathes, vital, alive, begging for the next stroke.
The mixed media paintings and mask pieces are a series of reflections of common human expressions, experiences and emotions. We need to feel, laugh and contemplate our humanness more often! We all have those inner voices, the committee we would like to ignore.
The bronzes are to engage the viewer, the person touching the sculpture with their eyes, their hands and their spirit, with our innate connection with all nature. The connection is in every cell in our body with all of nature. My sculptures reflect the spiritual, emotional and physical connection of humans and nature through metamorphic imagery. Bringing the strength of human and animals together for mutual benefit as well as the magical strength of the Mythical Shape-shifters of ancient times. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
As survival as a very young child. Self expression in the form of art came to rescue me, I was 7 years old. I knew then I wanted to be an artist, or rather that I was an artist. |

| Your Personal Biography |
I have been on a series of journeys over my lifetime in art. From the BASICS in an Artists Studio class where my tasks included sweeping the floor, stoking the coal stove, washing brushes and sharpening pencils along with classic instruction of drawing, painting, watercolors, print making, and sculpture; to pottery, jewelry, jeweler/silversmith/goldsmith, model/maquette maker, and designer both for the Jewelry and the figurine industries. 1992 I started sculpting and casting in bronze. I have exhibited my work from California to New York, and in all the western states. Recently, after a major geographic move to the Olympic Peninsula, I went through a “dry spell” that ended with a bang.I started working in areas I had never gone - geometry, volumes, geometric forms then to drawing, pastels, the mixed media and painting. The pieces in this Portfolio reflect some of the most recent parts of this Journey as well as the beautiful bronzes. |
