Artist Statement:
I position myself among a long
list of artists who have tried
to express the essence of
their contemporary
counterparts from the Greeks
to the Expressionists to such
artists as Cindy Sherman. The
loss of materiality is
specific to the modern world,
our relationship to the body
is changing. My artistic
subject matter deals with
these notions as well as with
the philosophical and ethical
questions related to genetic
research. For me the essence
of my contemporary counterpart
is best expressed through the
genetic code rich in years of
historically transmitted
information specific to the
human in general and to the
individual in particular. The
ultimate icon of the
individual for me is the
chromosome. ...
