Artist Statement:
Welcome to my pyrographic art gallery!
My name is Danette Smith and I am a self-taught artist living in Ohio. I have worked in various mediums for most of my life. However, I am currently enjoying Pyrography-the art of burning on wood and other mediums. I became serious about wood burning back in 2003. I have shown my work at woodcarver shows and art shows and have won many awards in competition. I have presented one of my works to noted entertainer Wayne Newton.
I have an unconditional love for all animals and nature. I specialize in wildlife, pet portraits, and human portraits. However, my art is not limited to these fields alone.
I do commissioned work, and I am willing to accommodate customers regarding their requests. Let me create you a lasting treasure! Each piece can be uniquely colored using oil pencils or done in monochrome and finished with a protective coating, and is signed and dated by me.
In my home website galleries you will find pyrography done on a variety of basswood shapes. Basswood is my wood of choice, because it is a soft and almost grain-free wood, which allows me to experiment with ...

I have always been artistically inclined. Started oil painting when I was seven. I am self taught and I'd like to have my own free-lance business. |

| Your Personal Biography |
My name is Danette Smith and I am a self-taught pyrographic artist living in Ohio. I have worked in various mediums for most of my life. However, I am currently enjoying pyrography-the art of burning on
wood and other mediums, also known as wood burning. I have been burning for the past 4 years. My work has been shown at woodcarving shows, art shows, and I have won many awards. I even presented one of my works to noted entertainer Wayne Newton.
I have an unconditional love for all animals and nature. I specialize in wildlife, pet portraits, and human portraits. However, my art is not limited to these fields alone.
I do commissioned work, and I am willing to accommodate customers regarding their requests. Each piece can be uniquely colored or done in monochrome and is signed and dated by me. Let me create you a lasting treasure!
In my galleries you will find pyrography done on a variety of basswood shapes. Basswood is my wood
of choice, because it is a soft and almost grain-free wood, which allows me to experiment with various approaches to wood burning for creating my pieces of pyrographic art. Recently I have been burning on Birch Plywood, Oak Plywood, Poplar and Aspen as it allows me to frame my artwork. I have also recently started building wood frames for my artwork.
I am a proud member of the I.A.P.A. the (International Association of Pyrographic Artists). Also member of National Wood Carvers Association.
I hope you enjoy your visit to my gallery, and please return anytime you like to view new examples of my pyrographic art that I will be adding to the site every now and then. Thank you and regards, Danette |
