Washington DC Artist, Daniel Nie, developed his own art technique that he calls “Yi-mpression.” He applies the principles of French impressionism with Chinese Xieyi painting (pronounced shay- e), which means to express the inner feeling of the artist. Creating this unique style has allowed him to interpret everyday objects through the celebration of color, light, texture and composition.
Nie is a native of Shanghai, China. He came to the USA 30 years ago after accepting a full scholarship to study art. Later Nie taught 6 years art courses at colleges. Nie holds a master degree in Art History and Fine Arts from The American University, Washington, DC.
