Artist Statement:
I appreciate a wide range of
styles, but I am currently
most inspired by the style and
color usage of a few artists
from the California Figurative
movement: Richard Diebenkorn,
Elmer Bischoff (favorite work
is Yellow Lampshade 1969), and
Nathan Oliveira (favorite work
is Adolescent By The Bed
1959). Hopper and Van Gogh
have had much effect on me as
well.
I am also heavily influenced
by the art, architecture,
culture, subways, dirt, grit,
grime and controlled chaos of
New York City -I lived near
there in my youth and visited
often.

Why Did You Become An Artist I became an artist out of a deep rooted desire from within - that's the best I can explain it.

Your Personal Biography I am essentially a self-taught painter with very little formal training but much artistic passion. Born and raised near New York City, I have lived in San Francisco since 1980. While the energy, art and grit of Manhattan greatly influence my artistic spirit, I derive inspiration from the art, nature and cultures of several world regions. I am heavily influenced by my environment and thus have in recent years derived much inspiration from California artists such as Richard Diebenkorn, Elmer Bischoff, and Nathan Oliveira. I currently paint almost exclusively in oil.

I am also a San Francisco personal injury lawyer http://www.danroselaw.com
