Artist Statement:
Every landscape oil painting
that Dave Reiter paints is a
reflection on life. According
to Dave, “I paint so that the
viewer is encouraged to
participate in the scene by
reflecting on all aspects of
life—what it is, what it
isn’t, what is should be, plus
a host of other thoughts about
life.” To achieve this, Dave
begins the process way before
any paint is mixed or any
brush hits the canvas. The
process begins with Dave going
out in nature with his camera
and capturing images that have
a strong sense of light and
dark tones, composition and
anything else that may be of
interest in the scene.
According to Dave, “If there
is an initial idea I see when
I take the photo, I will
record it. However, my main
interest is at this point in
the process is to capture the
image and the initial feelings
of what I want to eventually
communicate.” The second step
in the process is to go
through the photos and select
ones that speak about life.
Dave is looking for a life
principle, application, or
theme that will communicate
well in the final painting.

| Your Personal Biography |
Dave Reiter was born and raised in a rural community in Montana. Dave moved to Denver, CO where he graduated from the Art Institute of Colorado. After finishing his degree in art and working in the field, he earned his undergraduate degree in business from Colorado Christian University and his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Two years ago, Dave went back to his early roots of fine art painting. He has shown in a number of local and national shows. He currently lives with his wife, Diane, in Parker, CO. They have three children. |
