Artist Statement:
My print work is often about humanity's self-image in relation to animals and our perceptions of animal life and personality. I often deal with taxidermy as the subject matter, usually poor quality, often humerous, taxidermy. As a photographer I have evolved into a printmaker who works exclusively in PHOTOGRAVURE. My most recent research has been to print CMYK 4-color copper-plate photogravure. See my website for more examples... www.deadcat.ca
I am also interested in letterpress and book arts, gravure artistamps, and other forms of "matrix art". I will add more detail here later, but in the meantime, complete artist's statements about bodies of work such as "Bestiarum Excerptum" and "Locomotive Torpor" can be found on my website at www.deadcat.ca
My wife and I have written a book on the photogravure process: "Copper Plate Photogravure: Demystifying the Process". More information can be found at www.photogravure.net...
