| Your Personal Biography |
K's mixed media photomontages draw heavily from a Surrealist influence. K effortlessly combines a dada-style photomontage - crude, malformed images of beauty queens and American dreams, cut from catalogs and reassembled in deformed, mocking postures - with a dreamlike, abstract painting technique that seemingly overtakes the entire image assembly in a swiftly rolling wave of treachery and outlandish, sickening beauty.
K's efforts to produce a dream-state in her works fall heavily in line with the very foundations of Surrealism. She works often in a state of self-perpetuated trance, determined to create works which challenge the sober, conscious mind to interpret, forcing her art's observers to slowly ingest an array of bizarre imagery which falls into and over itself. K's intentions in so doing are to capture the minds of her viewers long enough so that they may realize the tranquil and life-affirming state that can be brought about by simply opening one's eyes and observing, forgetting all else, if only momentarily. |
