Artist Statement:
My latest paintings have been a series of close ups of food and candy - the candy of our childhood, with all their memories and associations. Painting the beautiful way light is reflected by the foils and cellophane and transmitted through the translucent candy creates a rich visual experience.
Some of the paintings are simple, direct compositions. Others become almost abstract in their complexity. All, I hope, help us see the unexpected beauty in everything around us.
