I have interpreted the
metropolis as a playground, as
a big
supermarket where you can do
your shopping with your
eyes, without paying.
I often come back home and
empty my camera of the images
I have seen, then I "wash"
them of any meaning and
rearrange
them into personal visions.

Franco Donaggio was born in 1958 in Chioggia, in the province of Venice.
He approached photography at 15, because he was curious about the many potentialities of photography as endless source of “stories”.
After his studies he moved to Milan in 1979 and after a brief period working as an assistant photographer, he became a professional
photographer in the advertising field.
In 1992 he was awarded with the Italian “Grand Prix” for still life photography.
After years of cultural and professional experiences, Donaggio felt an ever increasing urgency to deepen his photographic art research.
Therefore he devoted himself with passion to the study of new aesthetic and expressive languages. He was the recipient of the Italian “Gold Award Kodak” for creativity in portrait, thanks to his “Meta-Portraits” series.
Since 1998 he has been dealing with digital imaging techniques, thus further extending his visual experiences and embracing new paths like
graphic design and multimedia communication.
Donaggio has been represented in the United States since 1996 for the
sale of his works on the american collection market.
