Artist Statement:
In my youth, I was always
mesmerized by nature and the
visual ironies with which it
presented itself. There is
nothing so pure and powerful
as nature. The contradictions
in its color palette, along
with its subtle nuances,
enhanced my senses and
impressed me.
It is those very impressions
that have influenced my work.
All of my art is original and
influenced by nature and the
human form. Whether I
digitally manipulate my
original photographs or begin
with a brush and mix
unconventional media to
reinforce nature's
contradictions, I always tend
to focus on the irony of it
all. That is nature's true
character and I strive to
capture it, hoping to heighten
the viewer's senses.
My expressionistic view helps
me communicate my feelings and
interpretations. By using
deliberate, thick impasto oil
techniques, the delicate
stroke of watercolor and oil
pastel, or the contradictory
combination of resin and
organic material, I seek to
convey the true character of
each work until it absorbs a
life of its own.
The relationships of the
elements of nature are so
intertwined and I am
influenced by this simple
complexity and raw beauty. I
bring this quality into my
