| Your Personal Biography |
Indian versatile painter & sculptor AnuragK was born in the city of Calcutta, Bengal in the year 1973. Great grandson of Dr. Harigopal Gupta personal physician to HRH of Jodhpur and grandson of Dr. Annada Mohan Gupta who had served the country during the freedom movement in Rajasthan, Anuragk inherits a background of rich cultural heritage. His inborn passion for creative expression was quite evident during his childhood amidst the Himalayan foothills in district of Solan. His primary education at St. Luke’s High School (Solan, Himachal Pradesh)sowed the seed of creativity in his mind. The serenity around and the fire of creativity within was a perfect ground to give expression to his brimming resourcefulness. His receptive senses sharpened his creative abilities. Art was no longer just a passion but a friend and companion. He spent hours in solitaire observing and mimicking the nature. His talent was first noted by Justice Onkar Singh in 1993 who gave him a chance to restore some old paintings in his collection which included legendary sikh painter Sobha Singh’s works too. In 1995 his painting titled “Agony” was collected by then Chief Minister of the State of Himachal Pradesh Virbhadra Singh. After his wedding in 1996 Anuragk shifted to Delhi where he was commissioned to paint a relief collage of Calvary scene depicting crucification of Christ, and other allegorical paintings for church. His works were appreciated by His Holiness Pope John Paul during his visit to India in November 1999. By the time Anuragk had sharpened his skills in Relief collage paintings. In year 2001 his sculpture of Gandhi casted in resin was unveiled by the governor of the Union Territory of Daman & Diu. This followed many commissioned works by the Government and Industry. This included industries like HINDALCO and Indian Oil Corporation. In year 2004 an exhibition at the Headquarters of BRAHMOS Aerospace in New Delhi was inaugurated by the President of Russia, Vladmir Putin in presence of President of India, Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam, and CEO of BRAHMOS, Dr. A.S.Pillai displaying some of Anuragk’s commissioned artworks.
Anuragk has no formal art education but his talent was refined by Mr. Hiteshi & Mr. Ram Kumar. His formal education includes a Masters degree in Human Resources and fourteen years of service in manufacturing industry in senior management position which could not bind his passion. Quitting his job in 2008 Anuragk was back on his easel, soon commissioned by Croda Chemicals to paint landscapes the journey continued. Creativity has no precincts and so does his form of expression. His eclectic taste reflects itself through his artworks in different mediums. He constantly explores new arenas, nothing can bind him. His taste not only reflects vividness but even the depth and a desire for excellence. His colours glow and his thematic artworks ever remains a collector’s charm.
