Notes From The Artists July
2008
By Dennis & Sharon Eavenson
Delving into personal visual
realms daily is the basis for
the artwork we create. Works
are filled with our individual
reactions to the spiritual and
concrete realities of our
physical universe. Creating
art is our expressive outlet
and a means to share with
other humans our sensory,
emotional and intellectual
reactions to the present
world. By exploring these
sensibilities concerning the
world we live in through the
outlet of visual expression,
we communicate our attitudes
and the social currents of
different human cultures.
Ideas about physical and
spiritual theories evolve. In
this manner we find
enlightenment.
For us the act of creation is
always passionate, sometimes
labored and concurrently both
joyful and liberating. We
compare the artistic process
to birth, a catharsis or an
epiphany. Creative exploration
provides us with the fuel for
inner growth and development.
Art shapes and defines our
individual life journey in an
enriching way. Sharing with
the brotherhood of humanity
our diverse viewpoints and
understanding concerning
varied cultures within a
visual construct is our
artistic mission. We hope to
inspire a passion for visual
exploration in others so they
too will see and experience

Biggest Artistic Inspiration Our greatest inspiration is the mysteries of life which involve the physical and spiritual aspects of human existence as an ever evolving relationship with God and the universe.
 
Why Did You Become An Artist Dennis and Sharon Eavenson have always felt a need to visually communicate their emotions and perceptions about the world. Art is a means for providing others with inspiration and a source of spiritual and intellectual enlightenment. Collaborative works address religious, social, cultural and political concerns. Exploring the many aspects of humanity in both the physical and spiritual sense provides insight into human placement in the complex and diverse universe.

Studied with Ed Ross, an abstract minimalist painter and Anthony Greco, a realist painter.
University of South Carolina • Columbia, SC • 1973 to 1975 • MFA • Painting & Printmaking
Studied under Derek Southall, an English lyrical abstract painter while in residence at USC during the seventies.
