| Your Personal Biography |
Ambrose graduated from St. Louis University in 1973. He was accepted and studied at the Institute of the Arts for Restoration and Painting in Florence, Italy in 1982. He has participated in over thirty exhibitions over the past thirty years. Including this list of exhibitions are the Vaughn Cultural Center, St. Louis University Busch Center Art Gallery and the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center in Kansas City, Missouri. His works have been exhibited in Ghana and Senegal Africa, Romania, Brazil and South Africa. He has one print housed in the Vatican. In 1997 he was nominated as a Cultural Arts Training (CAT) Fellow and subsequently graduated in the fist class of the CAT Institution sponsored by Webster University and the Regional Arts Commission. He is one of the artists featured on the education tapes African American Art: Past and Present” sponsored by Reading & O’Reilly. His royalties from this program are donated to the United Negro College Fund. He has also participated in the Rights of Passage Program at the St. Louis Art Museum.
Ambrose Wesley is a member of numerous community boards and advisory committees. He devotes his time, energy and art to institutions to raise funds to provide services for education, health needs, social sciences, cultural and scholarships. His life and art embodies a deep commitment to children and community. |
