Artist Statement:
I find the technical processes of laying down paint or pastel are often more rewarding than achieving the finished work. It is one reason why I could never settle on using a single medium for my pictures. Portraying light, textures and colour-mixes in different media will probably keep me busy for the remainder of my life. My subject-matter is starting to become a little more diverse; I find it essential to make changes every so often, to prevent boredom....

| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
I have no particular favourites and prefer to keep an open mind about most artists' work. I have discovered that my thoughts and interests have changed considerably through the years. I am never influenced, in my feelings about a piece of art, by the painter's name; if I like something, I couldnt care less who painted it.
I could select favourite work from artists on a list as diverse as Claude Monet to Keith Shackleton. |

| Your Personal Biography |
Christine has a scientific background, having worked in diagnostic laboratories and animal medical fields. She followed art as just a hobby for many years; beginning in the 1970's with oil painting, taking part in a number of local area shows and selling a small number of pictures, mostly of local landscapes.
In the late 90's Christine sought fresh subject material as a break from landscapes and started producing small, traditional flower paintings, mainly in gouache. This led onto several years of using flowers as the main theme for paintings; enlarging the works to canvas and adopting acrylic as a third medium of choice (along with oils and soft pastels).
In 2001 Christine started a new website and produced a variety of floral themes, mainly close-up and semi-abstract on canvas. In 2003 and 2005 she won Best In Show at two local events, both for pastel pictures. In 2007 she was invited to submit a painting for inclusion in the book 'Acrylic Flower Painters' A to Z' by Lexi Sundell (Search Press UK).
Her subject interests include effects of light; sky and clouds; water, and anything with strong contrasts. With flowers, colour is important but also the shapes and gestures.
As of 2012, Christine has elected to return to more leisurely painting for the foreseeable future; bringing her focus back to small oils and pastels.
