Artist Statement:
I am drawn to colorful places in my environment and my paintings reflect this. Deep reds and vibrant yellows are used to form plant-inspired shapes, sunsets, and occasionally, human form - which I soften with the use of opaque and tanslucent layers of paint. Series of small marks, usually white, are also placed in the adjacent space, and deep blues and greens achieve a sense of depth and space around the objects.

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
Creating art has always been something that has felt very natural. If I am not painting, I find myself starting other creative projects such as sewing, embroidering, writing, even drawing doodles while I'm on the phone. I suppose it was a choice to become a "professional" but really it didn't feel like it. I do remember wondering when I would become a "real artist" at one point. I don't really think it was all that complicated though. I was an artist then, I am an artist now, I've always been an artist, the only real difference being that I'm now trying to earn an income off of my art. |
