Artist Statement:
With everything I have done in life including my art. I have attempted to be truly original. Nonconformist by nature. My work is created using explosives. Explosives have many applications, weapons of war, blasting rock in mining. Explosives are also used in medicines as well as cutting and hardening steel. Explosives are used in Fireworks to create spectacular effects. Unlike fireworks - that are gone in a few seconds - I have allways wanted to create everlasting pyrotechnic effects that can be ejoyed for eternity. The acrylic is blasted onto the canvass at 800 meters per second using explosives. It has taken me quite a few years to create this medium. I try and use colour and texture to create illusions and depth. My work is my feeling and inner soul at the time of creating each piece. I guess this is why much of my work is dark, allmost sinister. I do have happy days and this is reflected in the few colourfull paste style you will see in some of my pieces. I have never compared my work to other art and do not see the comparison between any artwork, I very much enjoy all art and all mediums, and ...

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I don't think I did become an artist, I think I allways was one. If I had a choice I probably would be doing something else. Maybe I am the reluctant artist? Allthough I do enjoy doing my work. |

| Your Personal Biography |
I guess we can leave this page blank, or just be honest...
As a child I was told by my art teacher to do something else as my art was "not good enough" This has certainly stunted my work for many years and I took the teachers advice left school and got a job. As such I have not studied art at any fine universities or colleges. I have worked as a butcher, fencing contractor, truck driver, swimming pool installer, welder, security guard, real estate salesman, Importer, house renovator, soldier(Australian Army) and for the past 11 years pyrotechnician.
I am a boring person without much personality. My work however is completly different to anything else you will see. I paint acrylic on canvass - using explosives. Thats right, the paint is "blasted" onto the canvass at over 800 meters per second with an explosive charge. My father was a Chemist and my Mother is an Artist so I guess it makes sence. I make this kind of art because I really enjoy it. I also paint with a brush, but will take a few more years to have any work I am confident to show. My well lets call it -- "Explosive Art" has been slowly gaining popularity, mainly with Asian investors. I like to think my work sells and people like it for the artisic value, but in many instances it is the medium I use that most impresses people. This certainly does not bother me as it is extremly exciting for me that something I created gives somone enjoyment. |
