Artist Statement:
My love of art and passion for life has driven me to express myself artistically ever since I was a small child. I love the beauty around me. I see objects that create designs, lines that continually flow from one object to the next, textures, colors, contrasting shades and interesting shapes. Fabric has so many of these qualities that the idea of seeking out and working with fabric has become a full time adventure. For each picture the fabrics is chosen based on how well it fits my vision and mood of the picture. This process of overlaying, cutting, and placing the fabric is known as free style applique or fabric collage. Using these techniques and machine stitching, I am able to create a picture that has the feeling of a painting....

| Your Personal Biography |
A native-born Californian and a lover of nature, my roots are in Sacramento. Although I was born in San Francisco I have lived in Sacramento most of my life and call this my home. I attended public schools and graduated with a degree in Art and a teaching credential from Sacramento State College.
Art has always been a big part of my life from a very early age. I took private painting lessons in my youth and continued to explore many mediums throughout my college years and beyond.
Upon graduation and receiving my credential, I started teaching elementary school and raised my family. At this time the freedom to pursue my art was channeled in a completely different direction. While teaching elementary school I would integrate art throughout the curriculum whenever possible; never leaving my passion for long periods of time. Using art in the classroom was a fulfilling experience. The primative child-like art was refreshing and innocent.
After 33 years of teaching, I retired and returned to my passion full time. 'The call of the fabric' used as my tool, stretches my imagination to create my art. I have shown my work over the past years in restaurants, fairs, and galleries. I am blessed to be able to continue my love of art and delighted that it has touched so many people.
I am currently a resident artist at the Bold Mark Gallery in Sacramento.
