Artist Statement:
Last year, while on a visit to Houston, I had to stay in an apartment with no studio, equipment or computer to occupy my time. Since I didn’t want to invest a lot of money, I went to the local art store and got drawing paper, pencils and charcoal. I had no idea what I would do but as I sat on the little porch, I noticed a mother and her child, people playing by the pool and a workman. I realized the apartments themselves we really a metaphor for life and its complexities.
I have continued to make work in that concept for the year. I am calling them the Apartments Suite.
