&<8220;WANDERER&<8221;
Paintings and prints by Peter
Lendvai at LeSA (28 Aug

This exhibition is a
collection of Peter&<8217;s
latest works, which works have
been made since his arrival to
New Zealand with his research
scientist wife. Originally he
is a qualified graphic artist
and secondary school art
teacher possesses wide
knowledge of different graphic
techniques, art history and
artistic anatomy. His rich
technical knowledge and
approach together with his
open-minded, easy-going
personality reflects through
his art works using lino cut
and screen printing techniques
along with brushes and oil
paints for his paintings.

On his paintings he tried to
capture the remarkable
colourfulness of Tongariro
National Park. The mesmerizing
beauty and the mystery of
these volcanic landscapes show
through his paintings.

His interest in human faces,
masks and magical/ritual idols
goes back to his University
years. Faces and hands, masks
and movements are his
returning symbols and he has
been using them on his
graphics, as well as in his
glass objects. He found Maori
motive system very unique and
rich; therefore he feels
privileged to be able to
observe them in their origin

Your Personal Biography He started his studies at the Specialty of Ceramics at the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts, Kaposvár between 1991 and 1995. Then he studied at the Department of Design of the Industrial School of Designer and Interior Decorator, Budapest for a year. Between 1996 and 1997 he returned to Kaposvár, where he completed the fifth year at the Specialty of Graphics of the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts. In 1997 he successfully applied for admission to the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, where he graduated as a graphic artist at the Department of Graphics and Visual Education in 2002. His personal masters were: Alajos Eszik and Imre Kocsis. In the last year of his studies he completed two semesters at the University of Design and Art, at the Department of Silicate Design, where his personal masters were: Gabor Gonsales and Zoltan Bohus.
Between 2002 and 2007 he was a qualified teacher at the Mihály Zichy Secondary School of Arts and Crafts, Kaposvár, where he taught multiple graphical techniques, artistic anatomy and history of art. Between 2004 and 2007 he gave lectures of artistic anatomy at the Department of State Design of the Faculty of Art of the University of Kaposvár.
His main interest is glass sculpture which he creates by using a brass wire netting for the base which he continues to mould together with warm glass. The central problem of his works is the combination of the optical effects and graphic qualities. He moved to New Zealand in the end of 2007.
