Artist Statement:
I paint because I love to. You will not find "distilled images resonating with the inner angst of the human" on my site. Shallow? Perhaps. I firmly believe, however, there is nothing wrong with simply being inspired and painting in spite of what "they" say. I have found that such works are very successful, moreover, they do ultimately speak to the viewer who is then free to attach meaning to my work or simply own it because they love it.
My latest inspiration was a trompe l'oeil exhibit. It was a number of years ago I saw it, but at that time decided the genre appealed to me. Painting is nothing but illusion, and creating these illusions are especially --- FUN!
My website, paintedskye.com has a selection of my classical horse portraits along with the new trompe l'eoil works. Commissions are welcome. Visit and enjoy! ...

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I love the challenge of getting what's in my head down on canvas. Horse and animal portraits are another specialty and I love being able to convey their distinct looks to their owners. I enjoy creating illusion which entertains the viewer. |

| Your Personal Biography |
Having drawn and dabbled in art, it is the career I wanted to pusue, but that was not to be. Nearly 20 years passed since I graduated high school at which time I was lucky to come upon Jack Jackson, an instructor at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, FL. Mr. Jackson had classical training in Madam Simi's atelier in Florence. He was a master of flesh painting and still life as well and was generous in his sharing of knowledge. Weekend classes for a couple of years helped me immensely - I wanted to paint! Then, I was on my own and continued to paint in the classical manner Mr. Jackson had taught. I moved on to horse portraits and realistic still life, influenced by classical and old Master styles. My newest foray is trompe l'oeil. I find the challenge of producing convincing 3-d paintings very exciting - and subject matter is never far away! One of my trompe paintings was "Best Painting" at a local 4 county juried show. I continue to practice and paint and work on creating interesting, fun and inspired paintings. |
