Artist Statement:
“I find extraordinary beauty
in the order of natural
materials. Stone, clay and
paper speak to me of powerful
architecture and dynamic
movement that I strive to
reveal through my sculptural
efforts.”
Chinese unit paper folding
“Zhe Zhi,” has influenced my
sculptural efforts. Paper is
as fragile as freedom.
Amazingly, paper can be as
strong as the desire for that
freedom when it is linked
together in this unique form
of art. My sculptures now
reflect individual frailty
strengthened by the foundation
of unity.
This unique paper art allows
me to create my own geometric
beauty and give a singular
voice to the unity of many.
The possibilities are endless.
The exploration is engaging.
The results are inspiring. ...

Why Did You Become An Artist “I find extraordinary beauty in the order of natural materials. Stone, clay and paper speak to me of powerful architecture and dynamic movement that I strive to reveal through my sculptural efforts.”

Your Personal Biography My first art exhibits were held in my mother’s kitchen. Her patronage was invaluable and carried me through to my art studies at Brooklyn College, N.Y.C. There, I studied with Ad Reinhardt, Philip Pearlstein, and Albert Terris obtaining a B.A. fine arts and a M.A. Art Ed. These artist-instructors significantly influenced my love of color, form and design. However, my love of sharing art brought me to teaching. This in turn, allowed me to see the world through fresh eyes each and every day. My art students were my greatest teachers.

While teaching art in NY, my art work was juried into:

Avanti Galleries,
NY Coliseum –Art Expo
Sheepshead Bay Art Show.

Later, I continued to teach art in Florida for ten years. My students achieved great success in the arts garnering many awards and scholarships. Many of my students were new to our country, and often shared their cultural artistic experiences. My discovery of paper folding from China was such an experience. Origami was always a part of my teaching repertoire. However, Chinese unit paper folding “Zhe Zhi,” was not. This unique paper art allows me to create my own geometric beauty and give a singular voice to the unity of many.

The possibilities are endless. The exploration is engaging. The results are inspiring.

Now, I am devoting all my efforts to revealing the beauty that began my artistic journey.

My art work has been juried into exhibits in Florida at:

Rosen Gallery, Boca Raton 2007
Boca Raton Museum of Art-Artists Guild Winter Show 2008
Boca Raton Museum of Art-Artists Guild Spring Show 2009(Third Place Award)
Scripps Research Institute – Nexus: Science + Art Exhibit (1 year) Feb. 2009 – 2010.
