Artist Statement:
Biography
Gordon Powles studied at
Lowestoft School of Art and
then Camberwell College of
Arts (The London Institute)now
The University of the Arts
Gordon has worked as a
creative for number of Design
Agencies and Television
Companies full time.
Gordon now works as a Full
time Artist using traditional
techniques and takes his
inspiration from the Sea and
coastlines around the world.
Artists Statement
My love for art and started as
a child. I remember sitting in
front of the TV beings amazed
by the Cartoons, Adverts and
the Movies. I knew then I
wanted to be a Creative. I
remember being fascinated by
the way images and sound and
the story could evoke
emotions.
The way the elements are put
together can change the
message completely. Drawing
was my favourite thing,
drawing all the time and
feeling that I was happy when
I was creating something.
I look upon my work as a
collaboration of various
media, combining digital
photography with traditional
drawing and art techniques.
Then taking the process
further by adding extra
manipulation using digital
software, creating imagery
that is vibrant and exciting.
