Artist Statement:
Interest in the human figure
was present in my creativity
from the very beginning.
Lately, it became limited to
just a portrait&<8211; with
special focus on a
woman&<8217;s image and the
commercial role of the female
face.
Most of my inspiration comes
from TV and computer screens,
the world of technology,
visual information and
fashion. At first sight
&<8220;beautiful&<8221; and
&<8220;happy&<8221; images
seem to predominate in my
paintings. After closer
contemplation, they reveal a
more cynical and artificial
side. I am fascinated by the
way faces and their
expressions are being stylized
in advertisement: subconscious
(or conscious) poses of sexual
and spiritual ecstasy,
resemble those from baroque
masterpieces. Except that in
our deeply commercialized
reality, the human face is
just another product.
I experiment with different
painting techniques, mediums,
styles and use cut outs, signs
and typography to achieve a
bold, layered, &<8220;pop
cultured&<8221;, sometimes
chaotic and distorted effect.
I hope to find artistic means
of expression that reflect
modern, fast pacing visual
representation.

Welcome to Malgorzata Kosiec's Portfolio.
Interest in the human figure was present in my creativity from the very beginning. Lately, it became limited to just a portrait&<8211; with special focus on a woman&<8217;s image and the commercial role of the female face.
Most of my inspiration comes from TV and computer screens, the world of technology, visual information and fashion. At first sight &<8220;beautiful&<8221; and &<8220;happy&<8221; images seem to predominate in my paintings. After closer contemplation, they reveal a more cynical and artificial side.
