Artist Statement:
My name is Gwynfor Roberts
from Ystrad Mynach in South
Wales, United Kingdom. The
paintings I am showing in my
portfolio are scenes from
where I live, all withing a
mile or so of each other.
They are all oil paintings and
they cover a period of about
20 years, some of them record
a little bit of the areas
history.
I am not a modern type of
artist, in fact I think I am
lucky to have such beautiful
coutryside around me to paint.
I like to think of myself as a
natural type of painter, going
out sketching the landscape
then returning home to do the
painting. At one time I
visited a site 12 times to
complete the sketch. It's all
part of the fun and to me
keeping a sketch book is part
of the artists tools.

Like most artists I as able to draw from a young age and retained my interest through life. I believe my inspiration comes from Constables Landscapes

| Your Personal Biography |
A design/draughtsman from the age of 17 through to 57. A self-taught artist where all my paintings have been done during spare time, though now I have given up the day job to devote my working days to landscape painting.
I seem to have devoted almost all my painting life to capturing my home landscapes in the Rhymney Valley in South Wales. Paintings can be seen on my site at :
