Artist Statement:
The subject matter of my painting is a mirror reflecting my own life. Gloomy memories of childhood days long past and the inner remnants of where I grew up the hometown raise difficult questions for me how to lead a real life as an individual without losing my identity.
Specially, these works signify my mother¡¯s Life history that she has lived in Korea as a woman. It is a joyful song, pain and suffering and sometimes it is meditation her whole family. In this sense, my paintings are memos about all these common things. These matters are not peculiar to artists but are common to everyone who strives to read eternity by representing human joy, anger and grief in the name of the art.
