The human figure is one of the most enduring themes in the visual arts and is arguably the most difficult subject an artist commonly encounters. I have always been fascinated with the human form and the rich and varied landscape it offers us. It is a theme that I have repeatedly explored within my artwork across the years and continue to come back to. Figure drawing can be done very simply, as in gesture pencil drawing, or in more detail, using pastel and charcoal or other drawing tools. | Your Personal Biography |
After studying Art at a local college in County Durham I achieved a BAHons Degree in Visual Art and a Postgraduate Certificate in Art Education at Liverpool John Moores University. I came back to the North-East of England following my degree course and spent 3 years teaching Art to pupils at a secondary school in rural Durham. In July 2000 I left the UK to work at Kids Gallery in Hong Kong. After spending 3 years working and travelling in Asia I returned to the UK and I am currently teaching Art and Design to pupils at a secondary school in Darlington, County Durham. |
