Artist Statement for Gerhardt Isringhaus

Art Is... Ha!

Gerhardt Isringhaus aka ISHA as he is known and signs his work, has been creating prints, paintings and photographs for the last 44 years. There have been many influences in his artistic career including the painters Lorser Feitelson, William Morehouse, Robert McChesney, Bernard Zackheim, the sculptor Mary Fuller, and photographer Ernst Haas. From them he learned that VISION is a personal point of view that emanates from inside and outside the artist. "It's a constant recording of encounters with spirit and matter. I surrender to instinct and imagination when I create. Creation is one big surprise and I love the surprises. My work is a diary of those creative efforts and encounters."

"Any genuine philosophy leads to action and from action back again to wonder, to enduring fact of mystery."

Henry Miller (1891-1980)
