Artist Statement:
In one and the same work two opposites of painting are merged -abstract and figurative art. The abstract art intends to exclude any possible association to the object. Putting the concrete figurative content into the abstract frame its meaning has been annulled. As a result I have obtained special “paintings in paintings’’. In a certain way I wanted to make “unobservable” paintings.Or to simply make it harder to perceive them thanks to ambiguous composition of great amount of visual information. In that way the works achieve certain hypnotic effect, the observer would be immersed in the picture and would have to dwell upon observing it as well as interpreting it....

Ivana Živić Jerković
was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 29th July 1979.
She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, painter section. She completed her postgraduated studies in 2008 at the same faculty, painter section. She has been a member of ULUS (Association of visual artists of Serbia) since 2006.
