Your Personal Biography Jacobo Roa was born in Mexico City in 1972. His family then moved to Guanajuato, home of revolutionaries and Diego Rivera. His first contact with the art was at San Augustin Art School in Ceyala Gto. He studied the works of Rufino Tamayo, Jose Luis Cuevas, and two important female surrealists,Leonora Carrington and Remedios Varos.
His father worked for the Geologic Institute of Mexico. This allowed Jacobo to know and experience small villages, mountains, landscapes, history, foods, and traditions. he connected with this world of 1000 colors and tastes, and his mind captured the soul of this magic country.
He moved to Cozumel, and was neighbor to artist Galo Ramirez. Then, in1997, he moved on to San Cristobal de las Casas and opened the artists cafe,"La Creacion". This move would define his career, painting murals throughout the cafe. He then decided to study in Oaxaca at the "Rufino Tamayo Art Institute", under the guidance of artist Juan Alcazar. He later returned to Ramirez' studio on Cozumel and began to exhibit his paintings.
All was well until hurricane Wilma hit, destroying the gallery containing a large portion of his work. He continued painting and showing along with other artists in the area.
