Artist Statement:
I am an artist and life long resident of the historic Indiana town, Vincennes. I have been painting for over 30 years, but more seriously in the past 14. Still Life and portraiture are a particular interest of mine and I love color. Most of my work features a bold use of color. Although the paintings on display in the portfolio are acrylic I also work in oils. I have done some watercolor and have a strong background in drawing.
I have a degree from Vincennes University in Modern Foreign Language and have taken many art classes there. VU is a National Association of Art and Design Schools accredited school. I have also studied art at the University of Southern Indiana.
I worked as a production painter for wildlife sculptor Jules Bouillet for two and half years. There I learned to airbrush and handpaint on the resin-cast ducks produced at Shaker Prairie Shop.
At the present time, I and my neighbor and friend, Anita Billings, do a lot of "temporary" art. This is done on store front windows as advertising for a business or decoration for some of our downtown events - such as the Christmas Stroll and the Watermelon ...

Still Life painting. I am fascinated by light and color and shapes. The objects around me inform many of my paintings. I also love portraits and enjoy portraying people in a setting where they are surrounded by "things" that are meaningful to them. |

Born in Vincennes, IN in 1957. I graduated from Lincoln High School and Vincennes University where I received an AA in Modern Foreign Language.
I studied art at Vincennes University, Indiana University and the University of Southern Indiana.
I have worked for wildlife artist Jules Bouillet as a production painter and now I am the co-owner of Blue Moon Gallery and Studios in Vincennes IN.
This year I was asked to do an ornament for the George Rogers Clark National Historic Park here in Vincennes IN. It was a part of the National Holiday in the Parks theme for the White House. This is the second time I have had the privelege of doing a White House ornament. The first time being in 1994 when the theme was the Twelve Days of Christmas. This years ornament can be viewed online at National Holidays in the Park. There is a slideshow of all the decorations for the tree. Mine is number 132 in the lineup.
