Artist Statement:
I approach my art through
intuition more than conscious
effort. Making art is my way
of disengaging from ordinary
experience, giving life to the
force of the psyche- that
which Carl Jung described as
“active imagination”. My
emotional response leads to
possibilities taking form
through different media. The
“themes” behind my images
point to the interior realm
and the natural world– the
metaphysical and the
phenomenal. Much of my work
suggests to me an atmosphere
in transition composed of
distinct elements— my role as
an artist is to integrate
those elements into a kind of
“ordered chaos” where
abstraction and objectivity
meet. My intent is to create
images that are original and
vibrant– that have the quality
to engage the viewer,
prompting a sense of wonder
and inviting reflection....
