Artist Statement:
My Statement By John Albert Bonnel
The Bent Collector Of One Thousand Limbs
I prefer the look of things that are made by hand. I just believe in taking a grassroots approach in everything in life. Music is an inspiration. Artistic, primitive, and important for me to live happy. I try to create a demented form of folk/pop art. Something that has a sense of humor, exposing heart and dysfunction in small town.
I create with my hands. I screen print on fabric, I draw and smudge on butcher paper. I carve into linoleum. I cut and paste. I splatter spill and recycle. I use other people's hands. I use telephone poles, t-shirts, album covers and tattoos to display my art.
I want to create art that looks like Velvet Underground sounds. I want to show, in each piece, how much I love creating it, with Joe's warts and all.
