Artist Statement:
FOR YEARS I have enjoyed many subjects in my studio. In the last several years however, the focus of my work has been to capture the pure landscape "en plein air". As I've painted and taught in Claude Monet's garden in the village Giverny, France, in the U.S. and Europe, the experience has been nothing short of profound. The landscape comes alive, as I work to capture the light that redefines the scenes before me. I realize now why Monet painted his garden for 40 years and could not exhaust it's enduring beauty. I am even more filled with the wonder of what God has created around me. It is to him my art is dedicated, with parents and husband whose supportive contributions have made it possible for me to be a painter for life....

| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
Any subject that attracts my attention, either it's design, colors, mood, lighting or thought inspires me to paint. Guess you could say, anything in God's creating is inspiring to me. I love to capture the essence or character of a scene or thing in the landscape. The fact that so many folks enjoy, can relate to and identify with my visual experience is also a true inspiration. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
After doing everything else under the sun, I was compelled to be an artist. Although I had average God-given "talent" (a subject for another day), I trained and trained not knowing where it would lead me. I prayed, and God has blessed me beyond measure through His gift to me. Through many circumstances, seeming roadblocks, and trials with my creating, I am and will always be, an artist. Now I can say, by birth, by choice and by His sovereign will, I am an artist. |

| Your Personal Biography |
L. Diane Johnson, creates intimate landscapes on location from the U.S. to Europe. For more than twenty years, her works have been sought after by collectors worldwide. A life-long artist and in tandem with her corporate graphic design and illustration company she has built a solid career as a painter which began in earnest as a classical portraitist. Nevertheless, once Johnson discovered the living landscape, it captivated and challenged her beyond measure. She is best known for her representational to impressionistic gardens, architecture and open landscape works in oil, acrylic and pastel. She is a full member of the Pastel Society of America, Signature member the International Acrylic Painters Society, Plein Air Painters of the South East and others; with a host of awards behind her. Additionally, she was the Founding Editor of Plein Air Magazine (now titled, Fine Art Connoisseur) and in 2000, was invited to participate in the first ever White House Conference on Culture and Diplomacy. Johnson is native of New Jersey, lived Maryland, and now resides North Carolina. She teaches privately, and is a coveted plein-air workshop instructor, juror and arts writer.
