| Your Personal Biography |
'Moments and movements, frozen in time and space...daydreams preserved...memories hazy with the distance of time...a scene blurred by the motion of passing... these are impressions. Using an intensely personal style and technique, her impressions evoke remembrance, imperfect with the distance or time and imaginings.'
Born in Rockford, IL in 1949, Jan became interested in drawing at a very early age. She studied at Northern Illinois University, Rockford College, Rock Valley College and with a number of private teachers. She has exhibited in area art shows and has had work at many galleries, including Austin Gallery and Hilltop Gallery in Chicago, Gallery Matisse in Lake Geneva, Eau Gallie Gallery in Rockton, Gallery Ten, Art Space, and 317 Market Street in Rockford. Her murals are in local homes and businesses. Jan is generous with her work for local events and fundraisers.
Nature plays an important role in what Jan expresses. Her style includes landscapes, still-lifes and portraits all bathed in a delicate light and stilled by an ethereal calmness. |
