| Why Did You Become An Artist |
After studying Art History in graduate school I decided I wanted to learn how the masters created their works of art... I wanted to see what was behind the current so to speak... |

| Your Personal Biography |
With a Masters Degree in Art History from Ohio State University, Kimberly Putnam has been painting and drawing for over ten years. She began her artistic endeavors after graduate school focusing on landscapes in Watercolor.
In 1998 she moved to Colorado with her husband and began exploring oil paint. “I’ve always enjoyed painting in both watercolor and oil but prefers oil because it allows me to be more loose in my style”.
Kimberly’s artistic break through came after the births of her daughters. “With my girls, I discovered I really loved painting children and soon this became one of my areas of specialization, landscape being the other. With my paintings of children, my focus is documenting their innocents, their child like mannerisms, capturing a moment in time where they are totally absorbed in what they are doing. My landscapes are also about capturing a moment and translating it into light, shadows and reflections. Where as my paintings of children are about their actions, my landscapes are about the tranquility of nature.”
When Kimberly is not working on her own pieces, she is painting commissions for clients and giving private drawing and painting lessons in her home studio. During the day she is the Director of Continuing Education at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in Denver, Colorado.
