Artist Statement:
Ken believes that the photographic image can be an end in itself, the start of a photographic journey or an artist’s sketch pad. He uses all three aspects in his work. Sometimes the image itself is sufficient particularly for recording the passing of time. Developing the image digitally opens up the imagination and leads him on to further photographic imagery and also transfer into other media – etching, silkscreen and other traditional areas.
Ken has been a photographer for over twenty years initially using traditional film based methods. Recently the advent of digital image capture and software has opened up his scope and increased his output of film, collage and print based work. Both place and people feature in his representational work though patterns and abstraction are his main interest. He has studied painting, printmaking, etching and photography and finds that they all influence each other. He exhibits and sells his work principally in the South West and South Wales. He is a member of the Bureau of Freelance Photographers and the West Gloucestershire Art Society.
