Artist Statement:
For me, art is more than a hobby; it’s a way of life. It acts as the lens through which I view the world. I began drawing seriously in high school when I “accidentally” discovered my talent via a mandatory design fundamentals class. I blew the bricks off that class, and was thirsty for more. Over time I found my niche in realism depicting the natural world. Mostly because I have always been an outdoors enthusiast and avid hunter, so it was just logical that such a subject would yet cease to intrigue me. I love drawing an animal or scenery using black & white in painstaking detail. I am able to put a custom contrast on the subject and emphasize something that your average viewer may overlook in a photograph or color picture. For example the way fur runs and follows the contours of a wolf’s face like water down a fall maneuvering around and over rocks and other obstructions. It is these kinds of beauty that I attempt to ...

For example the way fur runs and follows the contours of a wolf’s face like water down a fall maneuvering around and over rocks and other obstructions. It is these kinds of beauty that I attempt to portray in my work from the elegant flow of fur to the instinctual stare during contemplation of a next move. I try to depict the beauty of the subject, alongside the raw wild temperament.
I bring the outdoors in, so to speak. I offer a glimpse into what so many do not have the time to stop and enjoy.
