Artist Statement:
Animals play such an important role in our daily lives, and I have always been drawn to them. I like the way they express themselves, the way they are shaped, and the fact that they almost always forgive. In my sculptural representations, I am not so much concerned with the details or specifics, but more the feeling that a particular creature evokes. I try to say as much as possible with the least amount of information - hopefully allowing for an openness of interpretation....

| Your Personal Biography |
After graduation from Boston's School of the Museum of Fine Arts, I spent a summer at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, studying with resident and visiting artists Jake Berthot, David Hockney, Louise Nevelson, Frank Stella, and Ron Bladen. After years of painting and commercial ilustration - with my children in school, I returned to clay, my first passion. I have a studio in the vibrant railyard neighborhood of Santa Fe, and have been fortunate to be included in the Lark publication: 500 Animals in Clay, juried by Joe Bova. My work is also currently featured in Ceramics: Art And Perception No.71 |
